My name is Rozarita Mokhtar. I have been doing Trade Mark work since 1986 which include Trade Mark search, Trade Mark examination, Handling objection matter, Assignment, Registered User, Renewal, Gazette. I was attached to Registry of Trade Mark , Malaysia in 1986 and joined several legal firm before I decided to handle Trade Mark work on my own in 1996.
My concern is more on assisting small company in Malaysia of which most of them have no knowledge on the importance of registering their Trade Mark. During the early 1990's, not many are concern on the importance of Trade Mark. They simply get what ever name they like and use them without worrying that somebody would copy their mark. Most of them would prefer to copy other's people mark and will stop using them if the "real owner" found out. From there they will start using other name and keep on doing it . It's too sad this happen and from here I decided to help these "special businessman". Of course they are small business but their business doing well but with no correct path to the "real success" in the business.
These are among my experience being a Trade Mark agent in Malaysia. To educate them, to assist them and to grow with their success. For me to help one small company grow of which they can start one "good mark" and "start growing" is my satisfaction . With some knowledge that I had, I have helped many small company "Had their own Trade Mark".
In the 1990's , I did advice a businessman to give a name to their "sugar" or 'rice" . He said , why must have "trademark " for sugar ? Everybody also know what is "sugar".
Hence , I realise that I should do something to have these people to know that "trade mark" is not only a "label".....
